BA CHAMBER and EDC PARTNER WITH AREA SCHOOLS FOR MANUFACTURING CAREER DAY
The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation together with Broken Arrow and Union Public Schools are partnering with area companies to raise awareness about manufacturing by inviting the entire freshman classes at Broken Arrow and Union Freshman Academies to explore careers in manufacturing on Thursday, October 27th.
Volunteers from manufacturing will spend the day on campus at the Broken Arrow Freshman Academy and Union Freshman Academy as well as Broken Arrow Options Academy and Union Alternative School to talk to students about careers in the industry.
There are more than 3,400 employees in Broken Arrow working in various forms of manufacturing with an average wage of more than $80,000,” according to Amber Miller, Director of Talent Attraction and Workforce Development with the Chamber and EDC. “The goal of this event is to introduce students to those careers as well as the pathways available to obtain those positions.”
Nearly 100 volunteers from the Northeastern Oklahoma manufacturing community will engage students with more than students in hands-on activities that exemplify the many career pathways available in manufacturing. In addition to area manufacturers, the following entities are partnering on this event: Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance, Northeastern State University, Oklahoma State University, Tulsa Tech, Tulsa Community College, City of Broken Arrow, and Tulsa Ports.
