In late 2019, the State of Oklahoma launched the Oklahoma Works Together program to assess Oklahoma’s educational assets. Oklahoma Works Together is supported by state agencies and focuses on deploying resources, leveraging existing programs, and aligning curriculum with local and regional employment demand. A certified Center for Workforce Excellence (CWE) provides a point of contact within each identified region that serves existing and prospective employers’ workforce needs by coordinating resources and services.

Because of its dedication to the successful partnership of business, K-12, higher education, and technical training to build a strong and skilled workforce, the community of Broken Arrow was certified a Center for Workforce Excellence in November 2020. Broken Arrow’s Center for Workforce Excellence focuses on the two largest job sectors in the city, energy and aerospace manufacturing, and healthcare.

The Broken Arrow Center for Workforce Excellence serves as a collaborative effort, led by the Broken Arrow Economic Development Corporation to support the overarching goal of creating a navigable ecosystem for STEM education, training, and career pathways that meet industry needs. Broken Arrow was one of the first 9 communities or partnerships across the state to be certified.
