Groundbreaking for Tiger Hill Shopping Plaza
The City of Broken Arrow and the Broken Arrow Development Corporation broke ground on a new shopping center Friday.
“Tiger Hill Plaza” is coming to the corner of 71st Street and Lynn Lane — the last undeveloped section in the area according to Mayor Craig Thurmond.
The 30,000 square-foot project sits on a 5 and a half acres of land that was bought from the city last year.
It’s expected to include restaurants and retails shops.
About 80 percent of the plaza spaces are rented out so far. Tacos for Life, Keo, a beauty salon, and five other restaurants and retailers are expected to call Tiger Hill Plaza home.
Thurmond says the work to get to the groundbreaking has been significant, including lowering the land six feet to make it closer to street level.
He says Oklahoma is one of the last states where cities have to rely on sales tax revenue to function, so the new shops are expected to bring more tax dollars to the city.
The shopping center has started construction and is expected to be finished in the spring of 2021.
